Directed by Ali Asgari, a brief synopsis of the 15-minute film reads, “With her daughter waiting impatiently in the car, a mother helps an elderly woman in a shopping mall in Tehran. A tragedy occurs, brutally confronting her with the impact of her actions.”
The script of the short flick has been put together by Asgari and Farnoush Samadi.
Asgari as an internationally-recognized cineaste has been a jury member at some global events such as the Tirana International Film Festival in Albania.
Set to compete at the Short Shorts Film Festival & Asia in Japan and the National Film and Television Festival - City of Benevento in Italy, ‘Witness’ has so far taken part in a number of global events, including the Annapolis Film Festival in the US, Dhaka International Film Festival in Bangladesh, the BFI London Film Festival in the UK, the Atlanta Film Festival in the US, the Minimalen Short Film Festival in Norway, and the monthly Breakout Film Festival in Scotland, where it won the best short screenplay award.
The SECIME is a cultural event that has been presenting to the public the cinematographic trends of the industry for 34 years.
Its objective is the creation, promotion, diffusion and recognition of the value of the short film, being also part of the qualifying festivals for the Goya awards, with a long historical journey of awards.
The 34th edition of the SECIME is slated for May 28-June 5, 2021.
